that's cool. im considering this my baby journal (okay, im obviously not writing like i would privately in a journal, i will spare you that anguish!). some day, baby duke can read this, look at the pictures, make fun of me, not give a crap or think its cool. either way, here it is.
today, no seat on the subway...i think i need to start asking people to get up. ive lost all hope in these damn new jersey folks. i was almost in tears getting to manhattan. my legs feel like i just ran a marathon.

Sunday
im 29 weeks pregnant. above is picture from last weekend.i actually look more pregnant in normal clothes. for some reason, these belly shots dont tell the whole truth. which is odd because this is not a maternity tank top. im at the stage where people move out of my way when i walk down the street (finally!). i dont always get a seat on the subway, and man, lately i need it. my feet are killing me...
today is sunday and ive been relaxing all weekend. ive been having a few aches and pains for the past few days, and have been exhasted! i had all intentions of continuing the 'big clean' of baby's room, but im at the point that i need doug's man power. our closet is a disaster and the furniture needs to be re-arranged. on a positive side: all the papers are filed and ive used all office storage boxes as planned. we are getting there.
doug has been working all weekend. i saw him this morning for about 2 hrs. luckly, this weekend working thing is not typical and after today it should be over (at least for a few months)...so hopefully, we will make the room presentable before the baby arrives.
no news to report. baby still moves like crazy, especially after i eat. sometimes my entire body moves when he moves! i had no idea that babies moved this much. i like to just sit still and watch my belly shake. im not sure the novelty will ever wear off for me...

duh, today starts the begining of the last trimester! now that is something to talk about.

Duker is not the baby's name.
Duker is a nickname that doug and i use for each other (too much information!), so we named the baby that too.
Sorry for any confusion. I'm sure we will receive many complaints (joke), but if you've already embroidered a pillow or blanket with DUKER, we will take it!

doug and julia, age of innocence (or not)
i came across our old college IDs - from 1993! 15 years ago. so im procrastinating alittle. i've been cleaning up, organizing the soon-to-be baby's room for about 3 hrs now. i seem to be very good at throwing crap in mysterious boxes/drawers and not opening them for years. ugh. but feeling good about the progress. this room has become the 'black hole' this past year. but glad i found these IDs! the baby will enjoy looking at them (and laughing) years from now. i know i always enjoy digging up old school pictures of my parents. :)
dont really feel like ive made a dent in this room! this is definitely a 2 weekend job. doug is at the office and should be home around 4ish. he's going to move some furniture around and then...make himself a birthday dinner. sounds sad, right? like im a bad wife? well, he wants to do it! he ENJOYS cooking! fun for him is = choose recipie, make delicious meal, big old mess and relax. and i provide the dessert. oh speaking of that, better get on it quick! more procrastinating! yea!!!!
dont have any baby news to report, other than he is twirling all around these days and i seriously feel like im doing a load of laundry in my uterus. whoa.
outfits
here is the outfit from cate and joe. top pic (er, its sideways, sorry!) is the entire ensamble - button-down shirt, sweater vest and pants for newborn. bottom is just the 'oxford' onesie. how funny is this!!!?!??! and thanks a million to bernadette for the hand made hat. wow! its so perfect. you must have used 2 size needles. its tiny! THANKS!
a visit to cate and joe's
here are some pictures of me (at 26wks = about 6months) from our visit to see cate and joe. doug and i ate and ate and ate and ate and ate....thanks to you both for having us and for making sure we didnt go hungry. it was great to visit!doug sprained his ankle a week ago saturday. i will spare you the pictures. we went to the emergency room on saturday night, they said it wasnt broken. he was on crutches for a few days....today he went to a foot doctor. confrimed no break. he has a soft cast on it and a big bootie. he needs to return in one week. ive wrapped his foot with a scarf, because its cold. looks lovely. now he finally walks slower than i do! yah!
big time
oh boy. here i am at 25 weeks! there is no denying it now...er, i think i might be pregnant. people finally are offering me seats on the subway! yah! someone at work rubbed my belly. it was weird. my next appointment is march 20th. 
size: people are saying i look 'tiny' and someone actually asked if i was due THIS june. ha ha. well, i will post a picture later this weekend for all to judge. im measuring perfectly at the doc, so i do not worry. doug and i can only assume its due to my height of 5'8" and long torso, but i can still see my feet. i look about 4 months pregnant, not almost 6. oh wait, i think i AM 6 months now. im 24 weeks today. wowee. time flies.
kickin around
baby duke has been kicking up a storm these days! yesterday, i felt his hiccups. it started before i got out of bed and continued on and off through the morning. funny.
we are organizing the baby's room next weekend. currently it's filled with all the junk weve accumulated. plus a 2 chairs that we dont have room for in the living room, a sofa, a computer, and a dresser. ooooh, boy. i really dont know where or how we are going to fit a crib in this apartment. im thinking maybe not, since we plan to move when the baby is about 5 months. ive ordered some storage boxes from the company i work for, thanks to 40% off i could get even more than i normally would have. this will help clean up the junk that ive been too lazy to organize lately, but.....the computer....where does that go. ugh.
last weekend, our friends in philadelphia had a dinner party for us. we were surprised to also receive gifts for the baby - we got some baby toys, and a gift card!!!! it was really nice and unexpected. karen also had a few things that she had duplicates of or didnt use with their son - and offered them to us. now we have a wipe warmer, changing table pad and tons of nursing pads! this baby thing is starting to feel...real. oh, doug's friend damian made an amazing chicken wrapped in bacon - owah! soooo good.
ive been working late most of this past week due to meeting preperations. i was so exhasted all week and need to do nothing today. and im doing exactly that. i just took a nap at 11am after doug made french toast with mixed berry compote. yum! breakfast, then nap. pure beauty. if i was just near a pool or even in warm sun, then it would be perfect.
i guess breakfast prep exhasted doug b/c he is now napping on the sofa, with golf on the TV. oh wait, golf makes me want to nap too...

last weekend, we bought a new camera. doug's been reading up on all of its features. we took some pictures last night. i would post them now, but i dont know how to download them yet. i will get them up here tomorrow.
ive been pretty tired these last few weeks... super tired at work. and cant seem to remember anything! i know i should be exercising, but im not. im just walking to and from work (which is about 45 mins total a day) but im having restless legs (aka "jimmy legs" doug says is from seinfeild) at night. we watch tv or a movie and i have to stand for most of the evening. doing squats and stretches. ugh! but it helps, so once i get to the bed, i can fall asleep quickly....i just dont stay asleep!!!!!
beth sent some books last week, which made me tear up just looking at the covers~ i havent opened them yet. i am going to start reading to the baby at night.
i just found out that hoboken has a 'moms group' and there are tons of new mom activities to do in our little town!!!! there are also tons of classes for toddlers, etc.
lazy sunday.
last night doug made valentine's day dinner: filet, mashed potatoes, roasted brussel sprouts. and we had a lovely chocolate mousse cake for dessert! thanks D!
later in the evening, i happen to have my hand on my belly and felt baby D kick from the outside! whah! then he proceeded to kick ALL NIGHT LONG. awesome.

BOUNCING BABY BOY
well, we've got a boy on our hands!!! today we got to see baby duke after 8 long weeks. its a joy to see this little person waving around, gulping, squirming....its so much more REAL now that we know the gender. here are 2 pictures they gave us, bottom is a 3d image. he looks like doug already!!!!!
