dentist.... jan 10

today was lars' first dentist appointment!! at 19 months, not so sure this was the smartest move. he enjoyed the train table, the red balloon and the peek-a-boo game with the nurse, but......the actual experience was not too good. serious cries. and i had to hold him down. but then again, im pretty sure this is what a toddler is suppose to do (or i keep telling myself that) ha ha.

on the positive side, the doc showed me the best way to brush his teeth and so...in 6 months time he will be (apparently) more comfortable with this proceedure and not try to rip my hair out. ill try tonight. sure i will!

afterall, teeth are the window to your soul. or at least i think so.

lars has been a little under the weather this week - doc says its OK and thankfully, no need to go into the office. just a little cranky, needy, poopy, etc. today he is napping on his own (phew) which provides me a few minutes to myself. i refuse to clean up and am sitting here at the computer. ahhhhhh.

doug's got his usual new years eve dinner plans in the works and then some friends are coming over on new years day. i just realized that my oven is off, i need to fix the calibration or something. its probably like 50 degrees off from what i can gather (we need to get an oven thermometer and test). ek.

so martha stewart lied when she told me i could string marshmallows and make a candy garland. i just tried it. im left with sticky needle and sticky thread. maybe the mallows should be stale? well, too late! im scrapping that project pronto.

i took some photos yesterday of lars. i tried very hard to get cute shots like i had last year. oh, but wait! last yr lars was 6 months old and sat like a bump on a log and smiled for me on command. this year, he does not sit still. ever. oh wait! i know! he will sit still for 2 cartoons. ha! perfect plan. i turned on a show and much to my shegrin, he still wanted to bat the camera and run around. soooooo.....another project scrapped.

here are some shots from last night's disaster shoot

thankfully lars is taking a power nap this afternoon! so much to do. still have wool balls to string to get up on tree. whoopsie, i just remembered i didnt take photos of the process. i will post the link that i used, but it was easier than i thought and with a husband who is willing to be your little elf, it goes pretty fast!

12 days until christmas and ive just ordered everything online. done. most of the gifts i have sent to my parents house, since we will be there on xmas morning. and then a ton of books. i also ordered gifts for our nephews and that's about it. just a few more items and we are finished. i really dont understand shopping in stores. i think i will probably never do it again. again. i also get free shipping most of the time, so its really quiet lovely.

this week - candy garland, finish tree, wrap whatever gifts arrive, and holiday brunch saturday. that's enough.
