A few wks ago,

I had a sundae.

snot rockets, co-sleeping, etc.

hey world! ive got a sick baby on my hands. just a cold. stuffy nose, blowing snot rockets across the room with each sneeze and refusing to eat anything other than oatmeal and bananas. around 11ish last night, he was coughing and sneezing and doug went to check on him....doug returned to our room and said 'he's sleeping with us' -uuuuug. i thought. but doug thought he'd be more comfortable. ok! let's try it....we've tried it a few times (back in april he was REALLY REALLY sick) and it never works out. our son must be the only child in the world who hates sleeping with his parents. he slept with us for 4 months, then suddenly, stopped sleeping....and we couldn't figure it out. put him in his co-sleeper, in another room...and he slept. weird. so, even when he's sick, he'd rather be alone, in his crib, away from us.

so, please keep in mind that co-sleeping doesn't work for all families - most importantly, all babies. lars only slept for the first 4 months of his life when i was either wearing him in a sling or he was in doug's arms in bed.....so we just assumed we'd sleep with him for ....well, until we decided to make a change. i do what lars 'tells' me he wants, pretty much. he basically told me he wanted his own space!

personally, i didnt sleep the first 4 months of his life b/c i was so on edge that i would smoosh him or elbow him or he'd roll off the bed, so maybe he felt my vibes and said 'i want outta here people - this lady needs some sleep.'

anyway, back to this sickness.  just a little cold.

if i could just teach him to blow his nose. that would be so cool.

i lost my zzzzz

im blogging from my phone, at four am.   sad i used the word blogging, reminds me of the, oh, nevermind. i hate when i cant sleep. i guess most people do. nothing profound here. ta ta.

heart, cloud.

today i used some of lars' old shirts (sans stains, thanks) to make 2 pillows. one cloud, one heart. ive been seeing a lot of cloud pillows out there lately, and thought i could easily make one. ta da!

they are lumpy, and crudely finished, but that's the way i sew and i like it.

i drew wacky templates:

heart is mustard on one side, salmon on the other.
i really need to take time to make this more attractive. some day.

dogs and toddlers - same.

check this out - its a toyblocker for dogs! but totally perfect for toddlers who constantly roll balls under the couch too. i think we shall invest in this. thanks to a chatroom friend (and fellow mom of toddler) for showing me!

please note, lars likes to play 'fetch' another dog trait. :)
Just posting a test run from my phone.....now this is deadly!

chomp chomp chomp

lars' dinner - veggie protein chicken nuggets, real chicken, peas.

our breakfast - yumerz.
these moma cards are so cute - i will remember for next time i need a baby gift.

a few finished projects

here are 2 little bags i made for lars' blocks and small balls. we use these bags when we travel.

this is a stuffed dog that i made out of an old tee shirt (something that doug got for a bowling event - he would never ever wear this again). its wonky, and not perfect by any stretch - but for my first try (the legs were SO Tiny and nearly impossible to turn) i like it alot. he's funny. he had a name and now i forget it. lars doesnt seem very interested in him. so he sits on the bookcase most days.

morphing - things to come -

after the 3982th person to tell me to basically stop posting pics on fb and start a blog (hi, i have one) im going to merge this into crafts im working on, along with lars stuff, and other whatever family stuff that we are doing.

currently on the radar - soft ornaments for our christmas tree this year. this way, lars can tug and batt at the tree and we dont worry about our vintage ebay and hand-me-down ornaments being trashed. last year, lars was 6 months and didnt really bother it ....this year....18 months...oh boy.

now, ive worked in retail for like 10 yrs and know how much xmas ornaments (the wholesale) and am not about to purchase a million soft ornaments at 8$ each. plus i like to make stuff, so its a win-win. now, just to find the time. i guess i have to just succumb to having the sewing machine out on the dining room table for the next few months and making just a few a night or during naps. i cant seem to get much done with lars running around.

the plan - make 'soft balls' out of doug's old shirts (the work shirts with ripped elbows are the best) and any other scraps, backs of old lars teeshirts that arent stained, etc, that i have collected around the house. i already have the stuffing, so this project is basically free. i will document it here, once it starts. ha ha.

the other 'ornament' will be felted wool balls. ive been finding "how to's" on youtube and the like. and just found a site that said to throw them in the wash/dryer instead of felting one by one. phew! i was worried this project would be trashed, but i dont need to spend 2 hrs on each ball. yea! they will look so cool. im really excited for christmas this year - i think lars is too (he has no idea).

that's it for now. here's a shot from sunday am, i was not happy about being photographed while snuggling with my bee, in pjs (why is this the only time doug thinks to pick up the camera?!?!?!?!). yes, ive got glasses on from 2003. shut it.

play

some shots of lars and our play dough. i made it and he ate it.
