hi, im procrastinating again. last night doug went thru some closets, tossing stuff we havent looked at in the year since we've lived here....and certainly do not need to cart to another apartment. broken umbrellas, random notepads with one sheet of paper and a few computer laptop bags ...that dont even belong to us.
(oh, doug opened up one bag and inside had the following: stack of business cards from former co-worker, 1 breath mint, 1 condom, 1 sample size cologne).
i should be packing now, its peaceful in our apartment - lars is asleep and doug is out. ive just spent the last 30 minutes fooling around with the design of this here silly blog and still hate it, but im tired so i give up... for now. argh. i have a lot of learning to do.
had a lovely dinner at a friend's house. i brought a big vat of soup and she made pumpkin bread! yum! lars ate like three spoon fulls of soup and then whined and cried and made a mess and screamed to get out of the chair. i just posted this to facebook, but seriously, he's become the kid i said id never have.
the kid that is rambunctious and crazy and doesn't listen when we are out and makes a big fuss and wont eat. yes, i have that child now. he's freaking out when i change his diaper. he freaked out when i put him in the booster seat. he freaked out when he heard the word milk. oh man. this kid! and...to top it off, he bit me 3 times. THREE TIMES! he just did this the other day too...im saying that he only does it when he's tired, and yes, we are still transitioning to one nap and i know he gets wild around 4pm.... i know, i know! he's a toddler and that is what they do! but, i SWEAR, at home, he is an ANGEL! really... he's happy and smiling and silly and agreeable and cuddly and funny and smart and playful. I SWEAR.
new place....
here is lars in his new room. its like half the size of current room, but ill take the hard wood and amazingly awesome paint job, and ceiling fan! yea!
the kitchen has a window! yea! its like 2 feet from the next house, but it still gets light, which makes me very very happy. also, while i hate the light fixtures (we will change them in the living room) i love the cabinets! they are a buttery yellow - not wood and this makes me happy.

here's the view from the front of the living room, toward the kitchen. the 'office' is to the right of where i was standing. this room will be dining room, living room and a little play space for lars.
the view from standing in the kitchen. lars' play space will be by the windows at the end of the room....
here is the 'office' - which we painted grey - im very happy to say we wont have to have our computer in our bedroom for the first time since lars has been born. its nice to have a seperate room for that crap. ya!
play dates, boxes.
im so happy to report we no longer have snotty noses. and lars is happy again. now, i just need to get packing. i have 3 boxes. hum. last year we attempted to not use too many boxes so doug would drive filled boxes over to new apart, unpack them (say, kitchen spices) and then bring the damn boxes back. so much for that trick. it was annoying. and turned out to be a bigger hassel. every time i thought i only needed one more box, i really needed 9. so off to staples we will go on saturday.
i better fold laundry, ive got 2 moms and 3 kids coming in one hour!

snot rockets, co-sleeping, etc.
hey world! ive got a sick baby on my hands. just a cold. stuffy nose, blowing snot rockets across the room with each sneeze and refusing to eat anything other than oatmeal and bananas. around 11ish last night, he was coughing and sneezing and doug went to check on him....doug returned to our room and said 'he's sleeping with us' -uuuuug. i thought. but doug thought he'd be more comfortable. ok! let's try it....we've tried it a few times (back in april he was REALLY REALLY sick) and it never works out. our son must be the only child in the world who hates sleeping with his parents. he slept with us for 4 months, then suddenly, stopped sleeping....and we couldn't figure it out. put him in his co-sleeper, in another room...and he slept. weird. so, even when he's sick, he'd rather be alone, in his crib, away from us.
so, please keep in mind that co-sleeping doesn't work for all families - most importantly, all babies. lars only slept for the first 4 months of his life when i was either wearing him in a sling or he was in doug's arms in bed.....so we just assumed we'd sleep with him for ....well, until we decided to make a change. i do what lars 'tells' me he wants, pretty much. he basically told me he wanted his own space!
personally, i didnt sleep the first 4 months of his life b/c i was so on edge that i would smoosh him or elbow him or he'd roll off the bed, so maybe he felt my vibes and said 'i want outta here people - this lady needs some sleep.'
anyway, back to this sickness. just a little cold.
if i could just teach him to blow his nose. that would be so cool.
i lost my zzzzz
im blogging from my phone, at four am. sad i used the word blogging, reminds me of the, oh, nevermind. i hate when i cant sleep. i guess most people do. nothing profound here. ta ta.
